Game Physics

July 8th, 2010

I have received my new book Game Physics. Looking through the index, it looks like a good book to build a physics engine. Lots of maths and the calculations for various items. Will have to make time to study it properly and do all the examples and build the engine in there.

I'll combine this with the 3d game engine and see what the results are.

Till next time

Extreme Multitasking

June 30th, 2010

I have never minded burning the proverbial candle at both ends but there are times when I feel like I cut it into a dozen segments, arranged them all together and lit both sides a blaze. Keeping track of it all is difficult, and often a task nearly as demanding as anything else I'm working on.

My first Blog

June 16th, 2010

Have to say, this is my first blog that I am posting.Never had something before. Still learning the ropes of this tool.

ATM my studies are keeping me very busy and I dont spend much time on anything else. I try to read the posts on OGF on a daily basis and talk a bit on IRC in the mornings.

I've decicded to have a look into Physisc on the gaming side and ordered myself a book called Game Physics. Hopefully I'll get it next week. This will give me some wider reading on building games and game engines. I already have a book on 3D Game architecture and Atificial Intelligence for Games.

For now that is it.

OGF2.5 Change Log to 14-June

June 13th, 2010

As usual site development is moving more slowly than expected, even with very conservative estimates. This should be the last OGF2.5 update but there might be another one next week too. The only real requirements for iterating to 2.6 are completing a few short term WIP items, drafting a plan, and a new to-do list which when completed will mean OGF2.6 is ready for "launch" (OGF2.0 and 2.5 were never "launched"). Anyway, here is the change log for this week.

OGF2.5 Change Log May-2010

May 24th, 2010

This will close out the remaining OGF2.5 changes, upgrades, and general maintenance. Once complete the site version will change to 2.6, along with a rehashing of the site design and a new development cycle. For details on what, if anything, remains to be done for OGF2.5 see the forums. The time frame for this is not fixed but it should be complete prior to June 1st, after that anything left for 2.5 will probably be rolled into 2.6 or scrapped. Also note comments are disabled due to spam bots flooding the last change log with thousands of replies, this will be resolved in OGF2.6.

Forward I say!!

May 20th, 2010

Haven't really used the blog much so I figured I would start now.  As posted in the forums, I'm still trying to get hold of lazalong so I can talk to him about bringing OGE to OGF so we can full rights to develop it and use it for OL.

As for OGE itself, there are some samples already and I have been screwing around with the space sample to see what I can try and come up with.  I have some models and such so we'll see about that...

In addition, I'm looking at Unity3D to create a simple demo - something like Infinity - but I could also possibly do the same thing with OGE if I can get it to all work right.

We'll see...

More later.....

OGF2.5 Ste Development Log

June 28th, 2009

This log only covers changes beyond the to-do list and notes not covered in the site plan. Sorry its not a day by day account as before. I think its complete enough that when combined with the site plan another admin could get up to speed with the site very rapidly.
