OGF Blogs Are Live
Welcome to the OpenGameForge.org blogs sub-site!
This gives each OGF member a personal corner of the OGF site. While the overall site is still a work in progress, the blogs should be ready for regular usage but its not fully tested - consider this a beta test. At this point existing OGF members can login (via LDAP) and create a personal blog, but global user registration is not available yet. The only remaining to-do items are the OGF skin (for blogroll, staff blog, and default for new blogs), global nav bar, some site text widgets, and a security audit. More plug-ins and skins can be installed upon requet, see the Extending b2evolution page for available options - note this is b2evo v2.4.7, most 2.x plug-ins or skins should work, stuff 1.x or 3.x will not work.
Feel free to create your personal blog. If you registered on OGF2.0, OGF1.0, or the old OL site then your account should still exist in the LDAP global user directory - this means you can simply login normally and follow the "create a personal blog link". If you are new to OGF then you can either wait until the user registration system is completed (check the homepage for updates) -or- request to have your account created manually via either emailing webmaster@opengameforge.org (use this email link, it has a basic form prepared for you, note all fields are required) or asking in #opengameforge on FreeNode IRC (fastest only if dotCOM, Rinso, or MegaBurn is online) - once your account is setup, and you've logged in for the first time, just follow the "create a personal blog link" to get started. Once your blog is setup to your liking you can request to have it added to the OGF Community Blogroll blog aggregation list, this will make your posts show up on the OGF Blogroll and a recent blog posts feed on the homepage (makes your posts far more visitble within the community).
Staff Note: Login using your own account, create your personal blog, then logout and login again using the webmaster account, then in the back-end change your account to the OGF Staff group (under Users tab). Also note, to add a user blog to the OGF Community Blogroll you need to find the blog ID# (its in the URL, blog=#), then goto the back-end, click on the Blog Settings tab, OGF Blogroll tab below it, and Advanced tab below that, you should see a "blogs to aggregate list, add a comma then the blog ID# to the end of the list.
If you encounter any problems please report it via: Posting a message on the Tech Support forum (prefered method) -or- add a comment on this post -or- send an email to webmaster@opengameforge.org -or- report it in #opengameforge on FreeNode IRC. General feedback and suggestions are also welcome.
