All core site work is complete, OGF2.5 is ready for regular use but far from ready for a formal launch. First it needs general testing, a lot of polishing, more content, and the community to-do list must be completed. This is roughly where we were a year ago...
Site Testing and Polishing Notes Have a look around. Test out the different aspects of the site, try to focus on what you would use on a regular basis. If something looks broken, clunky, in need of some improvement, or you receive an error please report it on the Tech Support forum. If some of the system text could use polishing or clarification, please post suggestions. Please, only post reports about missing or incomplete content if you have content to contribute. The site content needs a lot of time consuming work. Posting text which is ready to copy & paste into a new article or one of the placeholder articles is helpful. Pointing out that something is incomplete without providing text is not helpful. Also be on the lookout for anything which: Seems confusing or might confuse a novice user (idiot proofing). Looks substandard or poor quality. Might be replaced with a better extension or otherwise enhanced with some tweak, mod, hack, etc... Community To-Do List The following is from the old to-do list posted on the summit forum. OGF Logo: Create a new logo image to be used across all sub-sites, start with a general concept on the forums, technical details TBD (sizes, formats, file names, etc). OGF Theme: General color scheme, style, etc... Start with general concept on the forums. Static Articles: See site plan for a list of static articles, pick a topic, brainstorm on the forums, type it up, and post it. Wiki Main: Create wiki main page template. Content Request Most people can post something... Joomla Articles: Use the Submit Article link in the User Menu to post articles. There are 3 editors available, TinyMCE is default, JCE is an expanded version of TinyMCE, and JoomlaFCK is the FCKeditor (also used on the wiki and blogs sub-sites, and in FusionForge). You can change editors via your profile settings. After you post an article it has to be published by a staff member, this is to prevent spam on the homepage. Wiki Articles: Feel free to post project related articles, tutorials, or anything else you like. The existing articles also need some reorganization. Original content is best but we can also import stuff from other wikis which use a CC or other copyleft or permissive license - post import suggestions on the forums. Personal Blog: To create your blog simply login on the blogs sub-site, your account will be created automatically, after login you should see a link to create your personal blog. Directory Entries: We need links, if you've got one post it. Forum Discussion: We need regular forum activity - project discussion, formal think tank debate, informal chatter, etc... Everyone can post *something*. Critical feedback on both this site and the overall OGF project itself is also welcome. Site Staff Recruitment If you think you might stick around for a while please consider volunteering as a site staff member. Formal help wanted articles for specific roles will be posted soon but we always need community coordinators. A community coordinator is an associate site staff position used for people who: Are formal representatives of other organizations or community sites. Volunteer to manage OGF coverage of a particular commercial game. Organize a community initiative, including joint ventures between projects, or moderate think tank discussions, or write news articles on a regular basis, etc... Community coordinator privileges and resources include Joomla publisher, forum with moderator status, forum group with group leader status, custom blog with enhanced privileges, contact entry (email form), and email alias. These are handled on a case by case basis, if you want to volunteer just ask on the OGF Management forum or email
